Counseling

University of Pittsburgh Counseling Center

The mission of the University Counseling Center (UCC) is to provide high quality services and programs that foster the academic and personal development, as well as the psychological well-being, of Pitt’s diverse student body. From outreach and prevention to crisis intervention, the UCC is dedicated to supporting and empowering students to maximize their college experience and realize their fullest potential.

The UCC offers a variety of culturally responsive mental health services to a large and diverse student body utilizing a personalized care model.  In addition to individual therapy, the UCC offers self-help tools (TAO), Let’s (Tele) Talk, and a virtual therapy group to support LGBTQIA+ students.

To support students seeking medical transition, dedicated clinicians from the UCC collaborate with campus and community medical/physical health partners as the Gender Affirmation Team (GAT). The mission of this team is to provide strength-based, affirming, collaborative, and multidimensional emotional and physical health care, consistent with the World Professional Association of Transgender Health (WPATH) guidelines.
