Student Health Services

The University of Pittsburgh Student Health Service is committed to providing confidential, quality care in a safe and friendly environment, for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning, intersex, asexual (LGBTQIA+) students. The University of Pittsburgh Student Health Service provides primary care, as well as reproductive and sexual health care, tailored to fit an individual student’s specific needs. Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh - Gender and Sexual Development Program

The Gender and Sexual Development Program serves children and youth (up to age 26) with questions around gender and sexual identity development and transgender care.

The program:

  • Provides thorough clinical assessments.
  • Promotes shared decision making around treatment options following the informed consent model.
  • Provides a welcoming and affirming environment.
  • Connects our patients and families to community supports.
  • Advocates for safe, inclusive policies in school systems, health care settings and the workplace.

Allies for Health and Well-Being

To improve health and wellbeing, Allies provides integrated medical care, supportive human services, and community-based education for individuals living with, or at risk of HIV, viral hepatitis, and sexually transmitted infections. Learn more about Allies for Health and Well-Being.

Central Outreach Wellness Center

Central Outreach and Wellness offers PrEP and free STD testing in Pittsburgh, Aliquippa, Erie, and Washington, Pennsylvania. Central Outreach Wellness Center is a holistic, multicultural, LGBTQIA, HIV & Hep C health organization. They are a leader in providing culturally competent medical care in Allegheny County. Metro Community Health Center

Metro Community Health Center is a community-based organization that provides comprehensive primary care and preventive care, including primary medical care, oral health care, and mental health care services to persons of all ages and identities, regardless of their ability to pay or health insurance status. Included in their mission is to serve the un-insured, under-insured, HIV positive, and the LGBT residents of the region. Learn more about Metro Community Health Center.

Planned Parenthood

Planned Parenthood of Western PA provides the following services:

  • Testosterone hormone therapy (sometimes known as "masculinizing" hormone therapy)
  • Estrogen/antiandrogen hormone therapy (sometimes known as "feminizing" hormone therapy)

Please note that all hormone therapy patients must be 18 or older in order to start or continue care. They are also happy to provide referrals for other desired services that fall outside their realm of care. Learn more about the services from Planned Parenthood.
